How to prime your face before applying makeup
Face makeup primer, such as our
Prime Lab Advanced Derm Primers is an excellent product to use before applying makeup as it helps create a smooth base for foundation and other makeup products. To use it, start by washing your face and applying a moisturiser. Then, apply a small amount of primer to your face, focusing on areas that are prone to oiliness or dryness. Allow the primer to fully absorb into your skin before applying your makeup, which will help your makeup last longer and look flawless throughout the day. Overall, using a face makeup primer can help improve the overall appearance of your makeup by creating a smooth, even base for application. Read more on

How to do basic makeup?
You should always start by cleansing your face and applying a light
moisturiser before makeup application to ensure your skin is well-hydrated. Start by dabbing small dots of your
foundation or tinted serum on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin - then use your finger or brush to evenly blend the foundation. Next, use your
concealer to cover up any blemishes or dark circles. Opt to use a
translucent powder and powder puff to set your base makeup. Move on to your eyes by defining your eyebrows and applying
eyeliner, before finishing off with a
mascara (if you want to add an
eyeshadow, make sure to apply this before your eyeliner). Finally, add some colour to your lips using a
lipstick or tinted
lip gloss.
What makeup do I need?
Whether you’re a beginner or expert at makeup, there are a number of staple makeup items are good to have on hand (or in your makeup kit) to achieve any look. For base coverage, you’ll need a
primer,
concealer, and
foundation to give you a flawless base with long-lasting effects. For the eyes, you’ll need to have a
mascara,
eyeliner,
eyebrow pencil, and
eyeshadow to define your eyes and frame your face. Lastly, add a pop of colour to your look with a
lipstick and some
blush/highlighter for your cheeks.
How to remove makeup?
It is important to take your time when removing your makeup to avoid leaving behind any residue or damaging the delicate skin around your eyes. By letting your makeup remover sit for a couple of minutes, this will soften the makeup pigments so that they wipe off easily and cleanly. Whenever possible, always choose to wash off your makeup using your facial cleanser and water, rather than using makeup wipes which can sometimes clog up your pores. Once all your makeup is removed, end your routine by applying a
face moisturiser and
eye cream to rehydrate your skin which may be stripped of its moisture.
