Use a cleanser that complements your skin type
When it comes to purchasing a facial cleanser, factors like packaging, trendiness and price can often distract us from what truly counts. Instead, focus on what the formula can do for your skin, and if the formula is designed to meet your skin care needs. Not only will using a cleanser that’s better suited for a different skin type not give you the results you need, but it will lead to wasted money—and wasted time!
If you have oily skin, you should try a foaming, or clay based cleanser, that can remove stubborn surface dirt and excess oil. Otherwise, this type of cleanser can be incompatible on dry skin, as it may strip the skin’s surface of any natural oils. If your skin is dry or dehydrated, look for a cleanser formulated with hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic acid (hyperlink to HA page), to remove surface grime whilst also hydrating your skin such as the Revitalift Re-Plumping Gel Wash, which is suitable for all skin types.
For those of you with mature skin, you may experience dryness and a lack of youthful, luminous glow. A cream cleanser such as the Age Perfect Cleansing Milk is perfect for tackling any aging concerns. This cleanser is enriched with Magnesium and Vitamin C to clear out built-up dead skin cells and re-energise your skin. The result: fresh, bright skin that is replenished and revitalised.
Try a skin care product that addresses multiple concerns
When shopping for skin care products, consider trying multi-purpose products that can tackle more than one skin concern all at once. For example, glycolic acid peel pads brighten, refine skin tone, and help combat the signs of ageing. They work to dissolve dead skin cells that can pile up, which results in dry, dull and rough skin. Dead skin cells can then lead to the appearance of uneven skin, fine lines and wrinkles, making them even more noticeable. Glycolic acid peel pads can offer an effective skin care solution by improving skin texture, addressing dullness, and reduces the appearance of wrinkles—all at the same time!
Face masks are also lifesavers when it comes to addressing multiple concerns, as long as you find a formula that complements your skin and its needs. The Pure Clay Detoxifying Charcoal Mask contains, well, Black Charcoal that acts like a magnet to draw out impurities and blackheads—leaving your skin brightened and visibly detoxified. There are heaps of masks that can purify pores, mattify shine, illuminate your complexion and more. Next time you visit the store, make sure you think about all of your skin concerns and look for a skin care product that can help accordingly.
Find a multi-tasking daytime moisturiser
Your daytime moisturiser should be able to wear many hats—meaning it should not only hydrate your skin, but also protect it from environmental stressors. Direct sunlight, air pollution and other external factors can take a massive toll on your skin! When choosing a day cream or moisturiser, look for a hydrating formula that also offers protection from the sun’s UV rays and free radicals in the environment.
Your ideal moisturiser should have hydrating ingredients, antioxidants and SPF broad-spectrum protection, as these will help nourish your skin and shield it from everyday aggressors. The Revitalift Day Cream SPF15 is perfect for everyday wear, as it evens the skin’s surface and reinforces elasticity for firmer skin, and also contains UV protection to protect against wrinkles and sunspots. The Revitalift Laser X3 Day Cream SPF15 is also formulated with SPF and helps to strengthen and resurface the skin, even out skin tone and improve texture.
Helpful hint: Don’t just rely on your skin care products for sun protection! Boost your anti-ageing efforts by wearing a hat, scarf or sunnies to further protect your skin.
Don’t use heaps of your skin care products
As tempting as it is to apply (literal) heaps of skin care product whilst washing your face, exfoliating, applying a face mask or moisturising—don’t do it! More product doesn’t necessarily mean better results. Often results are not about how much you use, but rather what you use and when you use it. Read your product’s instructions and stick to the label’s recommendations for how much to use at a time. Avoid over-cleansing and over-exfoliating by referring to the label’s directions on the optimal amount of times to use the product per day or week.
For the most part, you should always cleanse your skin twice a day—once in the morning and once at night. Your skin can build up oil and sweat whilst sleeping, so you’ll want to start your morning skin care routine with a freshly washed face when you wake. Cleansing at night removes the day’s buildup of dirt, oil and grime. Two cleansing sessions a day will suffice, so try and avoid a mid-day clean unless you’ve worked up a sweat with an afternoon gym session. We love new Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser, which hydrates as it deeply cleans, and is suitable for all skin types.
Limit exfoliating to two or three times per week, as excessive scrubbing can negatively impact your skin. Our Revitalift Laser X3 Glycolic Pads contain brightening and skin refining glycolic acid, to perfectly purify and smooth the skin. When it comes to moisturiser, apply twice a day after cleansing morning and night. Pick a double duty day cream, by choosing a formula with SPF like the Revitalift Laser X3 SPF15 Day Cream. Finish your evening routine with the ultra-hydrating Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Replumping Night Cream.
Concentrate your anti-ageing efforts on your skin at night
Did you know your skin’s renewing abilities are strongest at night? Take advantage of this and add a facial serum into your evening routine.
Facial serums include concentrated active ingredients, such as Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid, to deliver advanced results. For added hydration, and a revolumised complexion, look for a pure Hyaluronic Acid serum like our Filler Hyaluronic Acid 1.5% HA Serum. To counteract deep wrinkles and signs of ageing, look for a retinol serum – the most widely recommended ingredient by top dermatologists to help renew skin overnight. We recommend the new Revitalift Laser Pure Retinol Night Serum, which is ultra stable and ultra concentrated to visibly reduce all wrinkles, even deep ones.
Follow your facial serum with an anti-ageing night cream—one that will tackle fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven skin tone and dryness. Try the Age Perfect Cell Renewal Regenerating Night Cream, which contains Black Truffle Extract and Fermented Black Tea, helping to create new cells overnight for softer, toned and glowing skin. The Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Night Cream is also a great option for younger skin, and has an anti-wrinkle and extra-firming formula to reinforce skin elasticity and keep skin looking plump. There are numerous night creams out there to meet your skin’s needs, so consider what you’d like to address and find a skin care product to match.
